About Me

Anchor 1
Hi there!

My name is BethAnne Havis and I'm a school social worker at Meadowbrook Intermediate School. I earned my School Social Work Certification in December of 2019 and earned my Master's of Social Work at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in 2017. From the first day of college I had all my career plans mapped out to be a school social worker, or so I thought. I'm thrilled to say I have finally landed in the perfect position with Bethalto School District! I look forward to doing whatever it takes to help students be successful everyday at Meadowbrook School.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my dog, Jade, traveling to new places, hiking, backpacking, camping, playing games, spending lots of time with family, and singing at church. If I'm lucky, I get all of those things in one experience! :)

Work
experience
Alton School District

School Social Worker - Long Term Sub

January 2019-May 2019

I worked for Alton Middle School as a School Social Worker before I earned my certification in December 2019. This experience allowed me to help young adolescents navigate staying true to themselves and be successful in the classroom.

Mercy Hospital South

August 2018-August 2019

I worked as a Clinical Intake Specialist in the Emergency Department to complete mental health assessments and apply crisis intervention skills to determine level of care for patients. This experience opened my eyes to understand the level of adult mental health issues and assist them in their recovery.

Centerstone School-Based Counselor

August 2017-August 2018

I worked as a counselor that would push into the schools and provide mental health services to students aged 3-11, which was the majority of the time spent in this job. Similar to the hospital experience, I was also able to provide mental health assessments to children and adolescents to determine level of care for clients. This job required home visits, on-call crisis intervention assessments, and connecting families with resources. Being a school-based counselor taught me a lot about the importance of addressing mental health concerns early in life to result in being a successful member of society.

Education
University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana

January 2019- December 2019

I completed the program to obtain my Professional Educator's License which allows me to be a School Social Worker! I completed the one semester internship with Bethalto School District during the Fall of 2019!

Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville

January 2013-August 2017

Here I completed both the Bachelor's and Master's program in Social Work. I graduated with my Bachlor's in Social Work in May of 2016 and went back in August of 2016 to complete the one-year advanced standing Master's program. I completed two internships during this time, one at the St. Louis Crisis Nursey and one at the St. Clair Child Advocacy Center. They were both enlightening experiences that I am grateful for!
